Vestibular Research Position at Walter Reed Army Medical Center

The Army Audiology and Speech Center is seeking a Research Audiologist whose primary focus is vestibular assessment. This individual will be in a pivotal position to influence the vestibular evaluation and research at the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the highest echelon of medical care for the nation’s wounded warriors, active duty and retired military personnel and their dependents. This will be an opportunity to be in the forefront of world-class clinical care in an environment where there is ongoing basic and applied auditory, speech, language and vestibular research.

This individual should have a strong working knowledge of vestibular anatomy and physiology, assessment and management, three or more years of experience in the clinical research field, a track record of publications, and should demonstrate an interest in and ability to conduct vestibular research. Must also possess excellent clinical skills and be comfortable working with human subjects in a research environment, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be methodical and organized in collecting and documenting processes and data.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and guide the design and implementation of experimental protocols
  • Guide data analysis
  • Manuscript and grant preparation
  • Coordinate ethical approval for research with the Institutional Review Board
  • Maintain documentation and data necessary for IRB compliance
  • Collaboration with clinical Audiology staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team and active involvement in the Audiology Clinic
  • Disseminate research findings by participation in and presentation of data at research conferences.
