Tinnitus: Ringing or buzzing in the ear(s).
The National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR) is testing a way to help people who are bothered by tinnitus. This is research and not treatment. The help will be offered by tinnitus specialists (audiologists and psychologists) who provide advice over the telephone. The advice may help you to make changes in your life that will make the tinnitus less of a problem. There will be nine phone calls over six months (more if needed). At the start of the study, each participant will complete questionnaires and return them by mail.
You may qualify if:
1) Your tinnitus is a problem for you
2) You are a veteran or in the military
NCRAR is especially seeking people who have had a head injury (traumatic brain injury; TBI).
It costs nothing to participate. You also will not be paid if you participate. You may benefit from the study if your tinnitus becomes less of a problem for you.
